If you are willing to give up part of your summer in exchange for a life changing opportunity, then The Wilderness may be the place for you to serve. We are looking for young adults who are sold out to the Lord Jesus Christ and are willing to be trained to help the next generation.
We see our staff as a key element to the fundamental success of our program. Serving at The Wilderness Christian Camp should not be taken lightly and should be bathed in prayer. This is not just a "summer job" opportunity, but rather a ministry opportunity to serve the King of Kings.
Come join us for a life-changing summer. You will leave the forest different then when you came. Staff build friendships and bonds that last a lifetime.
Staff Training - June 17-23, 2024
Not a "wilderness" person, no problem. We get you ready. During our week-long training days, staff will be involved in a variety of classes, games, and routines geared to prepare and equip them for this year's camp program. Throughout the training period, staff will engage in hiking, canoeing, climbing, the high and low ropes course, fire-building, emergency training, and other related camp activities.
If you are or are about to become a student at a like-minded college preparing for ministry, ask about our ministry scholarship program designed to help pay your school bill. This program is designed to help the student that may need to work a summer job to pay his or her student bills, but would also like to gain ministry experience in a hands on environment. Many Bible colleges accept this as a summer internship, giving you needed credit hours. Why work fast food when you can serve the Lord with your summer?
We ask our summer staff to make a 6-week commitment. The 2023 summer staff period begins on June 19 and continues for 6 solid weeks, ending on July 29. Staff volunteering for the entire summer must commit to June 19 - July 29. Short term volunteer opportunities are also available on a limited basis. Note: Some flexibility with the above schedule may be possible - call for information. This schedule often allows students time at home at the start of the summer and a few weeks before classes start back.
Lodging and camp meals are provided all summer. Volunteer staff are encouraged to enlist one sponsor for each week they volunteer. The sponsor's role is to pray for that staff member throughout the week and to also financially support the staff member in the amount of $55.00. This one-time amount is to be given directly to the staff member to cover his or her personal expenses during the weekend (laundry, food, fuel, personal items, etc.).
We are a Independent Baptist camp using the King James Bible and have conservative music standards. We are looking for staff with a heart for children and a heart ready to serve our Creator.
We want to accommodate where we can. If you have a special or unique circumstance that you are concerned about, let us know. Example, diet, schedule, goals, fears, or more.
